There’s A Lot To Discover In Wellington

If a holiday away from Cape Town is not on the cards for you this Summer, you’re probably thinking of short day trips or stay-cation activities for you and your family to get up to.

If that’s the case – you should definitely take the family for a drive through to Wellington. About an hour away from Cape Town, there’s a lot for you and your family to discover.

Last Saturday we spent the day out there and visited just a few absolutely STUNNING wine estates, each with it’s own unique experience:

Turkish Delight & Wine Tasting @ Under Oaks

Our first stop was not in Wellington itself but just a few km away in Paarl. We visited Under Oaks -for some Turkish Delight and Wine Tasting. It was my first experience to try out the combination and my taste buds were pleasantly delighted!

My favourite was definitely the pairing with the Sauvignon blanc. I just had to take a bottle home with us!

The kids also experienced a tasting of their own, which kept them occupied while Mom and Dad enjoyed their delights. They also had some fun in the massive garden and play area outside the pizzarea.

That was just 👌👌👌#turkishdelight #winepairing #ProePaarl #Summertime

Lunch at Piza-e-Vino @ Val de Charron

After the tasting we made our way to Val de Charron in Wellington, for some lunchtime fun at the newly opened Piza-e-Vino. There we enjoyed some pizza and drinks while being surrounded by the most magnificent view!

The estate has 2 play areas but the water play area at the restaurant is a major attraction, in fact, we couldn’t get the kids away from it!

Can you blame them?

The restaurant really caters well for kids, even stocking cool colour in packs and crayons to keep the kids busy at the table.

I also spotted a Spa on the estate… mmm … next time I will be checking that out!

It was hard to leave this beautiful place but we had one more stop for the day.

Sweet treats at The Stone Kitchen @ Dunstone

We ended off the day with some sweet treats at the stone Kitchen @ Dunstone, which is literally less than a km away from Val de Charron. We got to relax under a big tree and enjoyed some pancakes and milkshakes, which the kids couldn’t get enough of.

Brother, are you going to finish that?

The play area was also a hit with the kids and I really liked the set up of it. I could have full sight of the kids from where I sat, so I could sit back and enjoy my coffee.

It really is a beautiful set up for kids and I was pleased to hear that the venue also hosts kiddies parties!

We just about had a taste of what Wellington has to offer – we are definitely looking to visit again soon!
