Do You Need A Washing Machine? My Review Of The LG Top Loader With Smart Inverter

With our domestic worker on a well-deserved break over the holidays, it honestly felt like the housework just never ended for me! Cleaning up after the kids, who just love cluttering up every single room in the house is no easy task!

Alyssa is also in the phase where she just loves to dress up. Not just dress up once a day – but a few times a day – depending on where she’s going to or even what she’s watching on TV! Aidan then also feels the need to do the same, because well, he copies everything big sis does. So their washing baskets fill up pretty quickly as they are quite messy, obviously.

I was ecstatic when LG approached me to try out their Top Loader Washing Machine with Smart Inverter, for so many reasons! Our old washing machine is just that. Old. It ‘s plain, minimal functionality and VERY loud. When it spins, you won’t be able to have a conversation nearby, you’ll have to move it to another room. So I was more than happy to take up their offer.

BUT – as you know, we are experiencing a drought in Cape Town, and I feel so guilty for doing a load of washing. But, we are doing our part as best we can and recycling the water from each load of washing. We have an outlet pipe that allows us to catch the grey water which we reuse for flushing.

I was also happy to have the option of selecting the 17kg Sapience top loader as it would reduce the number of washing loads we’d have to do each week.

So over the past few weeks, I’ve been able to put this beauty up to the test.

Here are some of the key features of the machine:

The machine has built with Energy Saving in mind, hence the Smart Inverter Control. The Smart Inverter Technology eliminates wasted operation by efficiently controlling energy use, which means the shortest possible time for each load. This is great for electricity bill!

The Smart Motion allows for 3 kinds of motions created by Smart Inverter for optimized washing by fabric type: Agitating + Rotating + Swing which makes for powerful and even washing performance. I can finally say goodbye to stubborn stains on the kids clothing as the TurboDrum™ enables the most powerful wash and removes even the toughest dirt through strong water stream of rotating drum and pulsator in the opposite direction.

The Smart Invertor also makes this machine so durable and quiet. The only time we hear anything out of it is when a load is finished and the machine sings a tune. It is also anti-corrosive meaning the motor is protected from dust, humidity and insects. Big Yay from me!

There are also so many nifty features on this machine like the stylish and durable design, especially the wide diamond glass which is anti-scratch, shock resistant and wide-viewing. The smart diagnosis app also syncs with your mobile phone for any troubleshooting you may have.

Stunning, isn’t it?

Overall, we have no complaints with the machine. And even if we do, it comes with a 10-Year warranty which is fantastic.

So if you’re in the market for a washing machine, this is definitely a top class choice.

*** Cape Townians, this is probably not the best time to be in the market for a washing machine for obvious reasons, but if you’re geared up to recycle and save water (or if you going to move to another city), this washing machine really is technology at its best.

Great review and I love your pics as well!

Just a note on water recycling…. I actually catch the wash water and use it for washing another load or 2. Another thing is the machine is so good with getting most of the detergent out, I don’t rinse all my washing.

Hi Simone. Thanks! Oh wow, i didn’t know that was possible. I’ll get my handy man aka husband to figure the reusing part out. That’s a really great idea. I’ll also test the non-rinsing option! I’m so glad the machine is so flexible in this way 😉

I am *obsessed* with mine! I was already a fan of doing laundry but now it is even more of a treat! What I love best is that you can decided how much water you want to use and it has an A grade for energy efficiency!
