What I Love About Elf On The Shelf

If you didn’t before – once you become a parent, you will most likely come across the Elf on the Shelf concept!  Moms around the world either love it… or hate it and there’s not really any in between it seems.

Well, you’re probably one of the parents who has warmed up to the idea… else you wouldn’t be reading this.. right?

If you’re still considering an Elf on the Shelf for your family, let me tell you why I think it’s great and why we are welcoming the little guy into our home:

Embrace the short-lived, Whimsical time with the kids

Kids grow up WAY too quickly. The time where magic is something real and imaginations can run freely for little children, its just the best.

I personally want to enjoy this time with my kids and make the most of it for them. I want them to believe in as much magic as they can before they grow up!

Elf on the Shelf is a way to celebrate this very special (short) time in our children’s lives.

Recently we wrote our letters to Santa,  after reading the story of how the whole process works – how the Elf collects our letters, travels a journey and a half to get back to the North Pole, makes a copy for Santa and treks back to give us our memento to hang on the tree. Alyssa was so engrossed in the magic of this story, she took the book along to school and shared the magic with her friends.

Creating Memories and Building Traditions

Making memories together as a family is probably the most valuable possession one could ever have. Traditions are a way that we can build these memories.

I hope that Alyssa and Aidan can look back one day and remember the years that our Elf visited, very fondly. Better yet, I hope they might continue the traditional with their own families.

Yes that’s my second name (and Alyssa’s) … but I absolutely love the Joy that Elf will be bringing into our home this year.

I must admit, our Elf doesn’t just make the kids Christmas spirit strong; he’s rubbing  off on me as well.

You’re never too old to believe in the magic, right?
