Win A Disney Descendants 3 Hamper

Descendants 3

Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Booboo Stewart and Cameron Boyce return to Auradon and the Isle Of The Lost in the dynamite new Disney movie, Descendants 3.

This highly anticipated third installment in the global hit Disney Channel Original Movie franchise continues the contemporary saga of good versus evil as the teenage daughters and sons of Disney’s most infamous villains-Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay (also known as the villain kids or VKs)-return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep.

Descendants 3

When a barrier breach jeopardizes the safety of Auradon during their departure off the Isle, Mal resolves to permanently close the barrier, fearing that nemeses Uma and Hades will wreak vengeance on the kingdom. Despite her decision, an unfathomable dark force threatens the people of Auradon and it’s up to Mal and the VKs to save everyone in their most epic battle yet.

What can fans expect from the thrilling trequel ?

Here is a little catch up with the cast to find out…

How would you describe the story of Descendants 3?

Sofia: There are so many beautiful storylines in Descendants 3. Without giving too much away, the movie tells the story of four villain kids that we all know and love. The mission that they came to Auradon to accomplish finally comes to fruition.

Dove: Descendants 3 is a beautiful conclusion to this massive story from an amazing world with these larger-than-life characters.

What else can you tease about the movie?

Booboo: Descendants 3 is our largest movie yet. It’s huge! The scope of the movie is really magical and it’s filled with adventure. Everyone you know and love is back for the third movie. Plus, there are some brand new characters introduced into the story.

Cameron: I love the way that we explore the blurred line between good versus evil in the third movie. It’s very easy to think, ‘Oh, you’re good and you’re bad.’ But we look at the grey area in between. Maybe a person that you think is bad deserves a second chance or is misunderstood?

What are you most excited for fans to see in Descendants 3?

Booboo: I’m most excited for the fans to see more of the Isle Of The Lost in Descendants 3. The Isle is such a cool place. Whenever we’re filming on the Isle, we always get excited. If we get excited just standing there on set, I can’t imagine what it’s going to look like on screen. It’s going to be really magical.

Cameron: I’m always excited for fans to see the dancing. I think audiences are always touched by the musical numbers in the Descendants movies. Ultimately, I think the end of the movie is going to be great closure for a lot of people.

What was life like on the set of the movie?

Cameron: Life on set was great. It took a long time to shoot the movie and it was a lot of hard work – but it’s fun when you’re with people who have become your friends. We all know each other really well and we have an unspoken understanding of how things work. In a way, we have our own language. We’re a really cohesive unit.

What was the very first scene you shot for Descendants 3?

Cameron: The first scene we filmed for the movie was a dance number in which we use swords, so there were a lot of people in armour and a lot of dancing. We were all really hyped up for it because we always get hyped for a fun dance number.

Sofia:  The number an epic battle moment and it’s led by our three female leads, Evie, Mal and Uma. It was a lot of fun to shoot.

What was the last scene you shot for the movie?

Cameron: The last scene we shot took place in a limousine. It’s a really cool scene with the four main characters and some newer, younger characters. Remember the limo scene in the first movie? It reminds me of that – it’s a fun throwback.

Were you sad when filming finished?

Booboo: It was really sad, but it was also really sweet.

Cameron: [Director] Kenny Ortega used a microphone on set to direct all the scenes. After we finished shooting the final scene, we took the microphone off Kenny and the four of us thanked him. It was really emotional. We’d written something, but we ended up riffing, which made us emotional.

Was everyone in tears?

Cameron: Yes. It was emotional and there were tears. We’ve been working on these movies for five years and we’ve all gotten to know each other really well. It’s been such an amazing opportunity to work with Kenny, so we wanted to thank him. Then we thanked the crew and everybody who was involved. Then we played some music over the speakers and had a little dance. We got in a big huddle and we were all embracing each other. We started to sing along, too. It was really sweet.

Was there a party afterwards?

Dove: Oh, yes!

Cameron: There was an incredible after party to celebrate the end of filming. We rented out a restaurant and there was a lot of dancing there, too. It was awesome. We were on the dancefloor all night long.

Looking back at the Descendants movies, what’s surprised the most about the fan reaction to these characters and these stories?

Booboo: To be honest, I think we were all surprised by the fan reaction. I felt like Descendants was going to be something that a lot of people were going to fall in love with and watch – but the reaction was much more epic than that. It’s been amazing, but we couldn’t do it without the fans and everybody who supports our movies. If it wasn’t for the fans then we wouldn’t be making a third movie. We wouldn’t be here.

How global has the fan reaction been?

Booboo: It’s very global. I remember travelling through tiny towns in Mexico where people would know about Descendants. It was incredible. At one point, I climbed a mountain in Mexico where one of the mountaineers on the trip surprised me with a Descendants gift. We were staying in a hut at the base of a mountain when this woman said, “Someone has decided to come along for the trip. His name is Jay.” She pulled out a Jay doll that she had found in one of the stores in Mexico! It was really funny and we all had a laugh. The Jay doll made it to the summit of Pico de Orizaba in Mexico with me.

Let’s chat about the movie some more… What are the underlying themes of Descendants 3?

Sofia: I think Descendants 3 has an incredible amount of beautiful, powerful messages and storylines. For me, the one that rings most true is the storyline that looks at the way it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from, but the world will only be a better place if we come together and we live as one. I think that’s the heart of Descendants 3.

In the movie’s first teaser, Mal says, “Dad?” Can you confirm if Mal’s father will show up in the story?

Dove: Well, I can’t confirm anything right now. Everything’s being kept top secret, but I think that everyone knows there is a lot of talk about Mal’s dad. This is a question that a lot of fans have asked and it’s also a question that we’ve asked as a cast. All I can say is that a lot of questions will be answered in Descendants 3. I think that every fan will be absolutely satisfied with every single story point in the new film. It feels like we have answered every single fan question out there in the movie, which is exciting.

Any final thoughts, Dove?

Dove: I want to add that this is my favourite movie of all three Descendants movies – by far! Mal’s journey in this story is very intense and very dramatic. My favourite point in the film happens about three-quarters of the way through the story because that’s when Mal steps into the person who she’s going to be for the rest of her life. She gets herself into a royal mess, pun intended! She has to face the consequences of her actions. I’ve never loved Mal more than I do after this film and I hope everyone else feel the same. I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve created!

BACK FOR GOOD!

Where do we find Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay at the start of Descendants 3? Here’s a little quiz with the cast for the lowdown…

DOVE CAMERON IS BACK AS MAL!

Dove says: “At the start of Descendants 3, Mal is the happiest she’s ever been. It’s an interesting change from the start of the first Descendants movie. Back then, she was so hard and tough. It’s also very different to the start of Descendants 2. At that point, Mal was lost and vulnerable. In Descendants 3, Mal is in her prime. She’s in love and she’s happy, and the only thing that’s on her mind is keeping Auradon safe. She suspects that Uma is going to come along and try to destroy everything, but that doesn’t distract Mal from her happiness. It’s an interesting place to start. If you’re the happiest you’ve ever been, is there anywhere else to go but down?”

SOFIA CARSON IS BACK AS EVIE!

Sofia says: “At the start of Descendants 3, Evie is very fulfilled. She is very accomplished, not only as a student but also as a businesswoman. She is running her own business and she’s incredibly successful as a fashion designer. At this point, Evie has turned into everything her mother never thought she could be. I love the fact that Evie’s story is an incredible tale of girl power and female empowerment. She’s even bought her own castle, which is where everyone hangs out in the film. Evie is the moral compass of Descendants 3. When Uma and Mal don’t get along, Evie is the guiding light that says, ‘Guys, please open your eyes. We will be better together. We belong together. We have to stop seeing each other for our differences but for our similarities.’”

BOOBOO STEWART IS BACK AS JAY!

Booboo says: “When Descendants 3 begins, my character is deciding where to go for college. He is deciding his future plans and what he’s going to do with tourney, which is the sport he loves to play. You originally saw tourney in the first Descendants movie. In Descendants 3, Jay is trying to figure out which college has the best tourney team and how that will help his future with tourney – although he’ll be thinking about a lot of other things as soon as the story kicks in.”

CAMERON BOYCE IS BACK AS CARLOS!

Cameron says: “Carlos has grown a lot in the Descendants movies. In Descendants 3, his hair is longer and he’s not wearing shorts any more. He’s finally wearing trousers! He’s matured and grown, and he is finally comfortable with his situation. That’s part of the fun of Descendants 3. Right when everyone is starting to be comfortable, things go south. We can’t wait for everyone to see what happens.”
