Reading has definitely been a form of escapism for me during this Lockdown. It’s basically the best way to get my mind off the current crazy world we are living in.
I thought I’d share my top 3 lockdown reads thus far, so if you’re looking for a good read to get you through the time at home, read on!
I was super excited when my first book from our newly formed Book Club arrived last month and I really didn’t expect the emotional roller-coaster which would come from reading this first book.
The book couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s a memoir by Photographer, Blogger and writer Kelle Hampton who shares her experience of giving birth to her second child, a gorgeous little girl who was born with Down Syndrome. The Down Syndrome diagnosis was only discovered after the birth and in the first few chapters, Kelle vividly describes those first few days of how she came to terms with it. Definitely a big pill to swallow, but the support from her friends and family who surrounded her really got her through that trying time.
Children’s book tackles diversity
When I saw the Bumble Books Press release for I am Alex, it couldn’t have come at a better time. Alyssa has started noticing things. Little things. Differences. And she has started asking questions. In her class at school, there is a mix of different races and religions but to those kids, it doesn’t mean all too much – but they are naturally curious as to why there are these differences!
