Win A Smart Toy Club Subscription & Minimise Clutter In Your Home

Over the last few months, the Smart Toy Club has been sending us some toys.

At the beginning of each month, we received a bag containing some toys suited to Alyssa and Aidan’s age – and at the end of the month we gave it back and received a new bag!

Kids get bored very easily and while most of them have boxes filled with toys, they really only play with a few during a given period before they lose interest. They do need some variety too, and that’s what’s so perfect about the Smart Toy Club!

Each toy bag contains R700’s worth of toys, on average. You get a varied selection, chosen by the Smart Toy Club moms and can expect between 4 and 6 toys each month depending on the retail value of the toys in your bag. You won’t get the same toy more than once, unless you specifically request it.

The national service caters for children from 6 months to 5 years and what I did was mix up the bag to cater for both my kids ages.

The variety of toys really kept Alyssa and Aidan engaged. Our toys included a mix of battery operated noisier toys, educational toys, wooden toys, trendy tech toys (such as Leap Frog), books, puzzles and games.

The way Aidan plays, I was a bit worried about breakages but I found most of the toys very durable. If a toy happens to break, you will be required to pay for it but a few scratches here and there are to be expected and there’s no cost.

Before toys are sent out by the Smart Toy Club, they are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Some toys are soaked in Milton, rinsed and dried. Others, such as battery operated toys and books, are wiped thoroughly with anti-bacterial wipes.

So how much does it cost?
If you collect, it’s R249/month. If they deliver, it’s R299/month for Western Cape, and R349/month for national (standard courier conditions apply, available between work hours).

Cape Town families have the option to collect from a conveniently located pickup point (Wynberg, Gardens or Milnerton). Alternatively, they can deliver to a work/home address (available through-out South Africa).

Alyssa and Aidan are so excited each time a new bag arrives!

As a parent, the biggest benefit for me is that by renting instead of buying, you are reducing the clutter in your home, minimizing waste and exposing your child to an excellent toy variety!
