I’m So Ready for Autumn

Don’t get me wrong. I love Summer, but Autumn is my favourite season of the year.

Perhaps it’s something to do with the fact that I was born in this season, but I just love this transitional period into Winter.

But this year, I’m even more excited about the cooler weather for a few reasons.

Wardrobe change

I pretty much live in lightweight blazers once the temperatures drop to a certain point, so round about this time each year, I invest in 1 or 2 new ones that I know will remain a classic piece in my wardrobe for years to come. Whether it’s an elaborate gingham or oversized tartan print, checks are one of the hottest trends right now.

The pattern is universally flattering, which means that it’s fun and fashionable for anyone, regardless of age or gender.

I also love my scarves, so can’t wait to pack them out too.

Rain on Me

While many are sceptical that Cape Town will get much rain this cold season, I’m choosing to stay positive that it will. I would love to see my garden revive itself after this harsh dry Summer months. And the prospect of taking a long hot bath in 2018 keeps me praying to the rain gods for a significant amount of rain over the next few months.

Hibernation Mode

The thought of snuggling in bed with a good book while it’s cold and wet outside just appeals to me so much right now. Autumn is also the time to put the stew in the slow cooker and come home to warm pots of soup. I so look forward to tucking into a lovely hot meal.

Too bad the rest of my family are all Summer fans, so my plans to hibernate will probably not go according to plan.

But a girl can dream!

What’s your favourite season? I’d love to hear.
