3 Signs You’re Living With a “Threenager”

We’ve all heard about the ’terrible twos’. Two year old’s have a reputation for being a handful, but what I’ve come to learn is that the ‘threenager’ phase is what parents need to be wary of!

At the age of two, they can be quite defiant, but at the age of 3 they can actually talk a lot more and with that, their attitude is beginning to fully develop!

A Threenager is a willful three-year old with the attitude capability of a sixteen year-old!  They are most likely just completed their potty training and can’t help his or her feisty and demanding little self.

As Aidan turns 4 this month, I am sure that this phase was just another stage of development which will pass. So you can say I’m quite experienced in identifying a “threenager” & here are 3 signs that can help you identify if you have a feisty dictator of a three-year old taking over your home:

3 Signs You’re Living With a “Threenager”

A master manipulator in disguise?

Do you notice this look?

It’s not the look of a sweet little angel anymore. This cute face will charm you with that darling expression and offer you lots of kisses. But be prepared to stand back when you are not agreeing with what they want to do.

Aidan just knows how to get what he wants. He knows what everyone’s soft spot for him is and he knows when to play it!

He’s not keen on doing me any favours either. Getting a picture of him is no easy task either these days (as you can see).

NO is a favourite word

You will hear this word very very often out of the mouth of a threenager!

It won’t just be a once-off “No, Mom”, It will be accompanied by crossed arms, lip pouted, stomping lefs, and shutting doors.

Good luck!

They’re also rather remarkable!

Yes, they can literally drive us crazy.

However, they are always making us smile with the quirky things that come out of their mouths.

The way they pronounce certain words or how they attach their own little meanings to words is rather adorable.

At this age, they also still love to snuggle. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Do you have a threenager in your house?

Let me know what he or she also gets up to.. I’d love to hear.
