How I’m Keeping Fit Indoors This Winter & You Can Too!

When it comes to exercise, I’m more of an outdoor kind of girl, but I honestly dislike working out outside when it’s cold. So for the last few weeks, I’ve been ditching my usual Saturday morning Parkrun and keeping fit indoors – without the chill!

I thought I’d share some of the ways I’m doing just that and can hopefully give you some ideas of what can work for you during the colder months.

1. Gym

Time for my favorite class

Although I’ve given the Parkruns a bit of a break, I still make sure I get in a 5km on the treadmill at the gym at least once a week. It’s definitely not as fun as running on the road but it’s ok I suppose.

I also do a Pound class once a week, which I absolutely love. If you don’t know what Pound is – you are missing out!!! It’s not only a great workout but I find it the perfect way to blow off some steam…

Here’s a bit of a taster

2. Woman’s Health Home DVD’s

Summer Bodies are made in Winter sadly

The Woman’s Health Home DVD’s has been my home workout routine of choice for a good few years. I collect them whenever they accompany the monthly mag and I think I actually have all of them, which allows me to have some variety. Alyssa loves doing these workouts with me – there are 15, 30 and 45-minute workouts and I sometimes even combine different ones to get that full body workout.

I had a look on the Womans Health site and I see you can actually buy some of them here.

3. Let Kayla Itsines Help You

A few months ago, I shared why I love this App and although I’ve stopped the “paid” version of it, I’ve bought the book which contains a pull-out workout plan. So it’s all the same exercises I’ve done while using the app, but it’s just up to me to stick with it. Kayla’s book is amazing – lots of food ideas and recipes to inspire to add some variations to my same old, same old work lunches.

I would definitely sign up for the app again if I feel the need and luckily I can do it on a month-to-month basis and stop whenever I don’t need it anymore.

4. Social Media

There are so many ways to get fit, just by using social media. Instagram is especially great in finding workouts targeting certain body areas. For example, if you want to work on your abs, all you do is search the hashtag #absworkout or #abexercises and you’ll be sure to find videos and pictures showing how to get that perfect 6-pack.

5. Dancing

If you all out of inspo or should I say “fitspo”, then why not just put some music on full blast and just get your boogy on. Your kids will love it! They may think you are crazy at first, but it won’t be long before they join in.

Play a few of your favourite tunes, and before you know it you would have burned some serious calories!

So what’s stopping you? Go ahead and get moving – you can even get the kids involved!
