A few weeks ago I made the big decision to cut off my long hair. Not only did I decide to cut, it’s the shortest it’s ever been!
It all started a couple of months ago when I was introduced to a brilliant hairstylist. He’s a friend of a friend and he invited me to visit his salon, The Hashtag Colour Lounge in Milnerton, Cape Town.
When we met for my first consultation, I already knew that I wanted to go lighter for Summer. I also knew that my hair needed a trim as my hair hadn’t been cut in a LONG time. But what I didn’t know was that under my previously dark hair those ends were in really bad condition.
Since I’ve become a Mom, I’ve neglected my hair in so many ways. I used to have regular trims and colour treatments but all of that was put on the back burner while being a new Mommy. Fast forward a couple of years, my hair was screaming for help.
After having my hair slightly lightened, I could already see how damaged my ends were and at my second visit to the salon, I decided to chop as short as it needed to be chopped in order to look healthy.
I was a little scared as I’ve never had hair this short, but honestly, I’ve never been happier walking out of a salon in my life!
Charles, better known as “Junior”, from the Hashtag Colour Lounge guided my decision as to a colour and cut that could work for me. In fact, the first time I walked through his salon doors he said “Your hair is way too dark for your skin tone!” and now that it’s lighter I have to agree with him.
Junior is such an amazingly talented stylist. An ex-law student who decided to follow his true passion for hair. For him, it’s all about making people feel good about themselves as they walk out of his salon. And that is exactly how I felt.
The Hashtag Colour Lounge situated in Milnerton is Junior’s brainchild. He, however, gives one of his client’s credit for coming up with the trendy name. She suggested, “Hashtag” while he wanted to incorporate the word “colour” into it, as that is his true passion.
Speaking of which, Junior recently took part in a major South African Hairstyling competition where he took second place. If you visit his Facebook Page, you’ll see some of the amazing work that he’d done! It’s really out of this world.
I am so happy with my hair and I think I’ve found a keeper stylist! Thank you, Junior. For making me feel like a million bucks when I walked out of your salon! In fact, I still do.
