At the end of last year, I spotted a post on Hirsch’s Facebook Page, who were on the lookout for 2 Bloggers to review a Brabantia Pedal Bin. The post immediately caught my eye, because 1 – I’m a blogger (duh) and 2 – I was literally about to purchase a bin that very day!
But I never ever got around to that purchase and not too long after I sent my details through to Hirsch’s, the lucky Bloggers were announced.
So, you can only imagine my excitement to find out that I was selected as one of the winners! Not only was I in need of a bin, but the Brabantia Pedal Bins are without a doubt, the most iconic bins I’d ever come across – and it comes in a range of modern colours.
But of course – the pink one had me smitten.
For a couple of days after unboxing the NewIcon 30L Pedal Bin, it just stood there in our kitchen. It’s just so pretty to look at! And I didn’t want to fill it up with dirt just yet. Do you blame me?
But then, of course, I had to start using it to serve its purpose, besides just looking pretty. Not only is it an absolute beauty, it’s pretty reliable too. It has the most amazing soft close feature which makes the bin silently open and close so smoothly. It’s also odour-proof!
The bin is fitted with a removable inner bucket that is also practical and easy to clean.
Built with high-quality materials for perfect functionality, the new bin has the Brabantia 10 Year guarantee! Yay, that means if anything happens to my pretty pink bin, it will be serviced.
Just by looking and touching the bin, you can see that it has been built with high-quality materials for perfect functionality.
The motion control capabilities are also really helping with good hygiene and ease of use for the kids. They don’t need to touch any part of the bin to throw away their waste.
If you should ever buy one of the bins in this range – an added bonus is that you’re not only supporting the Ocean Cleanup to fulfil its mission – to rid the world’s oceans of plastic, for each item sold, Brabantia makes a donation too!
The bin is Cradle to Cradle Certifiedcm at the Bronze level which means that it has been evaluated for material health, material reutilization, renewable energy use and carbon management, water stewardship and social fairness.
I love that it’s so easy to move around, with a non-slip base. I’ve been moving it in and between our laundry room and kitchen when we need extra space in the kitchen. With the easy bin liners which come with a sealing band, it makes for easy transporting the trash out. I can do it with ease…
Gone are the days of me begging Kurt to take the dirt out, I have literally no excuse to not do it myself!
My overall verdict: Having previously been on the lookout for a bin for our kitchen, this model had already caught my attention. It’s modern, sophisticated and literally the best-looking bin on the market! The price is good in my opinion, considering that it comes with a 10-year warranty and doubles up as an iconic decor piece in any room.
