Date Night Idea: Dinner at Lupa Osteria

Lupa Cape Town

Over the last few months, Kurt and I have really been keeping the momentum going when it comes to date nights.

While we adore spending most of our time with the kids, It’s absolute bliss to get to spend a few hours alone, just the two of us.

Recently, Lupa Osteria opened their doors to its first Cape Town restaurant at the Clock Tower in the V&A Waterfront and we were invited to experience what they have to offer on our next date night. Fab!

Lupa Waterfront

I love the convenient location, which is situated in the Silo District of the V&A Waterfront.

The casual style restaurant has a very inviting bar for cocktails, craft beer and a wide selection of local wines. The artisanal Italian inspired menu has a variety of dishes which makes Lupa the perfect spot for a date night,  a girls night out or even a family dinner (they have a kids menu too).

We got to meet the owners – Marco Zagato and Graham Muller, who has been in the restaurant industry for over 20 years. We loved chatting to them throughout the evening and appreciated their time giving us some insight into the Lupa Brand and menu recommendations.

We started off our evening with and antipasto platter consisting of some meats, olives, artichoke hearts, zucchini fries and a delicious garlic bread that melts in your mouth. If you follow my instagram stories, you would have seen that in true italian style, the platter was rested on a huge 1500g can of tomatoes!

Lupa Osteria has their own dough room where they make all their own pasta and pizza bases with imported Italian flour! So for my main meal, I just had to try a seafood pasta and Lupa’s was nothing short of amazing.

There’s just such a huge difference between freshly made pasta, WOW!

Kurt was very intrigued by the menu dishes cooked by the restaurant’s wood-fired oven and opted for the kingklip and vegetables. He gave me a taster and it was AMAZING. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside with a unique smoky flavour.

The wood-fired oven also doubles up as the most amazing fireplace in the restaurant, which is perfect for these cold winter nights we’ve been experiencing.

This also made it the perfect date night for us.

Lupa also has weekly meal specials, daily aperitivo hour from 3-6 pm with specials on cocktails, wines and bar food as well as a R75 lunch menu to ensure that everyone can try their food!

Go on, make that Date Night a reality!
