Hasbro, one of the world’s largest toy, game and entertainment experience companies, have us covered this Winter with a wide range of board games. From strategic thinking to solving the mystery – there’s something for everyone to enjoy during family game nights.
Carving out time for quality family moments can be tough. Gathering together to enjoy a classic family game not only offers social benefits but an opportunity to create some memorable family memories away from screen-time.
Hasbro Gaming also has a selection of board games that are suited to pre-school learning. and many of the pre-school learning classics from Hasbro Gaming have also received the Mensa Kids* stamp of approval.
Hasbro sent Alyssa and Aidan a few of the games in this range and we’ve been having lots of fun with it over the last few weeks. What I love most about family boardgames is that it helps the kids to concentrate, it teaches them patience (to wait their turn) and it keeps them entertained for hours at at time.
The Pre-school learning games include the following:
Always wanted to be a doctor? Well now you can with the Operation game where you get to be the doctor and help Cavity Sam or get the buzzer. Alyssa and I spent hours playing this one and we laughed ourselves silly throughout!
Mensa Kids* reviewed and recommended games include:
- Downfall is a game of gears, twists, turns and strategy. Players need to use their strategic thinking while turning gears and manoeuvring their tokens down through the gears and into the chute first in order to win. The game saysits suitable from ages 6+, however Aidan and Alyssa were very interested in it and got a good understanding of it after some practice.
- A long-time family favourite, Mouse Trap, is full of zany action as players scurryaround the board collecting cheese and avoiding the traps. As well as hours of fun this game allows kids to practise valuable skills in construction, cause and effect and decision making. As a family, we probably enjoyed this game the most of all!
- Ready, set, go! Be the quickest to fit all 25 shapes into their matching holes in the tray. But watch the timer, if it runs out pop goes the Perfection.
- The Cranium Sculpt-It game is the wacky game with the outer space theme. Players need to work together to use their imagination and sculpting skills and win as a team. The game is ideal for boosting collaboration, self-expression and imagination.
With all of these great options to choose from, quality family time will always be fun! The latest board games from Hasbro Gaming are availablefrom Toys R Us, ToyZone, Toy Kingdom, Hamleys, Lilliputs and other major retailers. You can also shop online at
