What We Love About Elf On The Shelf

elf on the shelf

If you didn’t before – I’m sure that once you become a parent, you will most likely come across the Elf on the Shelf concept!  Moms around the world either love it… or hate it and there’s not really any in between it seems.

Well, you’re probably one of the parents who has warmed up to the idea… else you wouldn’t be reading this right?

If you’re still considering an Elf on the Shelf for your family, let me tell you why I think it’s great and why we are welcoming the little guy into our home:

Embrace the short-lived, Whimsical time with the kids

Kids grow up WAY too quickly. The time where magic is something real and imaginations can run freely for little children, it’s just the best.

I personally want to enjoy this time with my kids and make the most of it for them. I want them to believe in as much magic as they can before they grow up!

Elf on the Shelf is a way to celebrate this very special (short) time in our children’s lives.

We are going to wrote our letters to Santa soon,  after reading the story of how the whole process works – how the Elf collects our letters, travels a journey and a half to get back to the North Pole, makes a copy for Santa and treks back to give us our memento to hang on the tree.

Creating Memories and Building Traditions

Making memories together as a family is probably the most valuable possession one could ever have. Traditions are a way that we can build these memories.

I hope that Alyssa and Aidan can look back one day and remember the years that our Elf visited, very fondly. Better yet, I hope they might continue the traditional with their own families.

It’s all about the build up

Elf Pets are a great way to get the build up going. The Arctic Fox is one of them. Unlike the Elf, the pets can hugged and cuddled! This year the Arctic Fox will be in our home until Christmas where he’ll go off and help Santa with his duties!

Joy

Yes that’s my second name (and Alyssa’s) … but I absolutely love the Joy that Elf will be bringing into our home this year.

I must admit, our Elf doesn’t just make the kids Christmas spirit strong; he’s rubbed off on me as well. Plus – this year our Elf has his own line of apparel designed by Mrs Claus herself, where little guy can show off his own personality.

You’re never too old to believe in the magic, right?

If you’re ready to adopt your own Elf (time is running out) remember you can get it at TakealotToy Kingdom online or in store, Toyzone, Hamleys and Toys’r Us.

Stay tuned to my social media to see what our Elf gets up to this year!

P.S Don’t forget to enter the giveaway to win your very own Elf On The Shelf Hamper valued at over R900!
