February is here and every shop window is filled with red and white! Our social media feeds are flooded with lovely gift ideas and its all there to celebrate the big day on the 14th of February!
There’s no doubt that Valentine’s day is way over commercialised. But at the same time I love that it gives us the opportunity to celebrate with those we love. It’s just a sweet reminder to show the ones we love how we really feel!
It’s been a while since Kurt and I actually went on a date night for Valentine’s day. We’ve been celebrating with the kids over the last few years. This year, we may just change that!

Summer nights are there to be enjoyed and watching a movie outdoors is one of the most romantic things to do. Picture watching the sunset as your movie is about to begin then cuddling under your blankie when it gets dark while sipping on some bubbly. If you’re in Cape Town, check out The Galileo outdoor cinemas.
Go To A Concert
Share your appreciation for music together and head to a music concert featuring an artist you both love or go and see a new artist. Kurt and I recently went to a Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concert and turned out to be the perfect date night!

See A Comedy Show
Laughter strengthens your immune system, it boosts your mood and protects you from the damaging effects of stress! So heading to a comedy show at the end of a stressful week can turn out to be an awesome date night. We’ve been to The Cape Town Comedy club a few times. They always has an awesome line-up, so you’ll be spoilt for choice!
Start A Hobby Together
Starting a new hobby together can be really romantic and fun at the same time. Why not attend a cooking class or a pottery workshop. Basically, anything that you know you’ll have fun with will make for an interesting time.
Check Out A New Restaurant
Between you and your partner, I’m sure you’ve made a mental note of one or more restaurants to check out. Check what you’ve bookmarked and make that booking! Enjoying good food together in a vibey or romantic restaurant will result in a the perfect date night setting.
