This is the first pregnancy update since my announcement last month and our little family is getting excited as the bump is becoming more noticeable. (For ease of reference in this post and other pregnancy related posts to follow, I will be referring to the baby in my tummy as #2 🙂 )

What’s happening with #2?
#2 is currently the size of an avocado pear. I am certain that I am feeling him or her move while people are telling me it’s probably just gas…. I know the difference!!! At this stage we still do not know whether #2 is a boy or girl but we will find out in 2 weeks’ time. We are really excited to find out whether Alyssa is going to have a little brother or sister.

What’s happening with my body? 
My belly is growing and my bump is becoming more noticeable every day. I’ve gained 3 kg’s thus far and Alyssa now speaks to my belly, kisses it and says baba! Occasional nosebleeds, bloating and lower back ache are the symptoms I’m experiencing at the moment. Bloating and back ache also affected me during my first pregnancy but I never had a nosebleed. At this stage of my first pregnancy I had already started suffering from heartburn but this time luckily, it hasn’t shown up (touch wood).

Food Hate                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Onions – After feeling the effects of a boerewors roll packed with onions, I think I’m going to give onions a big miss for the next 5 months.

What I’m dreaming about?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Since the launch of a new channel on DSTV I’ve been watching a lot of new series. Every night in my dreams I seem to be in similar situations as some of the characters in those series…. lots of drama! I don’t remember much detail of the dreams but I have a few flashbacks in the mornings.

Shopping?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       I have not bought a single item for #2! This is really so unlike me. There is not much we really need as we will pretty much be reusing all of Alyssa’s goodies…. except if it’s a boy of course, we would need to get some new clothes. On Saturday Naartjie had a 40% flash sale where I got some really great items for Alyssa. I was very tempted to get some newborn items but I’d rather wait until I know whether it should be pink or blue. I’m not a fan of the yellow and mint green!       

24 weeks to go… and just 2 weeks until we know whether it’s pink or blue 🙂
