For the first time in a very long time I can say that we had a proper staycation. We didn’t do much, just lounged around at home. Basically just swim, eat, relax and repeat. It was more than relaxing to say the least and I can honestly say that I feel my body has rebooted.
But on the other hand, there were a couple of cons which makes me want to plan our next Summer holiday right now!!! Before I do that, I think I should list all the pro’s and con’s and see which option is best for my family
The Pro’s And Cons of A Staycation
Let’s take a look at the Pro’s of our staycation first:
Money Saving
We honestly didn’t budget for a getaway this holiday so by staying home, we definitely saved big time in terms of spending on travel costs, holiday accommodation, meals and any unnecessary spending.

Get Rid Of Clutter
Ok, some of you may disagree with me on this one but I honestly find unpacking and repacking cupboards and draws therapeutic. The only problem is that it takes a lot of time. So our staycation finally allowed me the time to do that.

And then there’s the cons:
The cleaning!
OMG, with our domestic worker being on a break we were on our own in terms of keeping the house in order. It feels like I’ve done hundreds of loads of laundry… and oh goodness the dishes!!!
This is definitely a big con and I won’t easily forget how much work this is.
Cabin fever
There were 1 or 2 days that I literally felt the walls of our house was going to cave in on me (probably on laundry days lol) and I just needed to get in my car and go for a drive and feel the wind through my hair! But after an hour or two, I was ready to come home. Crazy, I know.
You Find Yourself “Working
Because you’re at home and in your usual zone, it’s easier to just switch on that laptop or get your head into work mode. I tried my best not to, but I found myself thinking about work, making notes and checked my emails too!
That probably wouldn’t have happened had we been on a beach resort somewhere!
You either the type that can or can’t do it
A colleague of mine told me that he absolutely has to go away when on leave… even if it’s a long weekend! Else it would just be a waste of leave days. I’m not so sure I see it that way.

I guess it’s all about making memories, isn’t it? Either way, there will still be precious memories to be made with those nearest and dearest!
What’s your thoughts? Are staycations your kind of vibe or do you absolutely need to get away?
