When Cindy from 3 Kids 2 Dogs & 1 Old House tweeted in search of pals to join a book club, I was keen to hear more. I love reading, but between work, home-life, blogging, writing etc. it’s been difficult to find the time to actually find a book that catches my interest and then obviously get down to reading it. Well, as I always say – if you want to do something, you have to make the time!
I always loved watching Oprah’s book club on her talk show but always thought I was way too young to be part of a book club. Which means… I must be getting old.
Well, it’s all pretty exciting though. Our book club consists of 11 members, who have each selected a book which they have read and loved. You have to write a small inscription on the cover of what you thought – with your name and date, before passing it on to the next person in the club.
Each person must then read the book they receive within a month, write their inscription of their perception of the book and then pass it on to another member of the group.
So by the end of the year, you would get your own book back with all the little messages on!
It’s so cool that we are all bringing our favourite kind of reading material to the table and each person would be reading books which they wouldn’t necessarily choose themselves.
Last week I received my first book from Kim from Muller Kids Blog and it’s titled Bloom: Finding Beauty in the Unexpected-A Memoir; by Kelle Hampton. I haven’t even gotten past Chapter III yet, but I’ve already balled my eyes out. I actually have to make sure there’s a pack of tissues next to my bed before I start reading it!
Once I finish the book, I will share my thoughts…
Have you ever been part of a book club?
