A fresh start…that’s basically the only difference between 31 December and 1 January.
We are the very same people we were last year, BUT the good news is – we all get to start on a clean slate. For some of us, that may mean setting short-term goals for the next 12 months and for others it may be the year to make their dreams come true!
Whatever way you choose to kick off 2018, I hope it’s going to be nothing short of amazing for you.
There are certainly a few things I’d like to achieve this year, but to be honest – I’m still in holiday mode and will be for most of this month. I worked super hard every single day of 2017 so my very first short-term goal is to just chill and take it easy for the first few weeks of 2018.
If there’s one thing that I learned in 2017 is that the only constant thing in life is change. Change is good, but it’s something that takes you out of your comfort zone. And in this crazy fast-paced world we are living in- if you want to succeed, you need to be agile.
And if I had to sum up all of my new year resolutions into one word, AGILE would be it. I had to especially be agile last year where my career is concerned and I’m continuing to do so. Processes, systems and technology are changing at a rapid pace and if you’re not flexible enough to adapt along with these changes, things are not going to turn out how you planned. Basically, you need to (be able to) roll with the punches.
My parenting style also has to be agile, as the kids are not babies anymore. Their developing minds and behaviour have me on my toes, so as a Mom I constantly need to adapt. I’m being asked questions that I thought I’d at least have another few YEARS to answer, so I need to be one step ahead of these munchkins.
The very same approach with the blog applies – how do I keep this platform relevant? What will keep you coming back to my online space in 2018? Do I need to do more video content? Do I need to post more often (or less)?
These are just some of the thoughts on my mind as I kick off the year with a very slow start! But, it’s food for thought.
One thing I know for sure, this crazy family right here is and should always be my first priority no matter what goal or plan I set for the year ahead!
Do you have a word for 2018? Or do you have a list of goals already mapped out?
I’d love to hear.
