This month marks an entire year since we’ve been in lockdown! How crazy is that? To think that we’ve been inside our home for 99% of this time, it’s really unbelievable.
For the past year, the kids haven’t been to a restaurant or play place and it’s something we used to do almost every weekend, pre-pandemic days.
This past Sunday we were invited to have lunch at Tryn Restaurant, Steenberg Wine Estate’s beautiful eatery in Cape Town. The kids have been begging us for a family outing – so the timing was perfect.
A Relaxing Family Lunch At Steenberg Wine Estate’s Tryn Restaurant
Sunday must have been the warmest day of this Summer and so it was absolutely lovely to be out and about on such a gorgeous day. When we arrived at the Estate which is nestled in the idyllic Constantia Valley winelands, the kids were happy to see the beautiful gardens which we said we would relax in after we ate our lunch.
Tryn Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating so we opted to eat inside (thank you aircon!) while we had our lunch and then later on, we enjoyed our dessert outside once it got a bit cooler.
The indoor venue is absolute decor goals! The modern and bold interior is just superb and I just could not stop looking around.

We came hungry so we were quite excited to see such a delightful menu. Tryn have a lovely kids breakfast and lunch menu which had all the kids classic favourites. Alyssa opted for a pasta and Aidan wanted a good steak, which came with chips and veggies!
These two have healthy appetites, so they were overjoyed to see the generous helpings being brought to the table.

It’s amazing what a year can do! I was expecting Alyssa and Aidan to be restless and all over the place, but they were so content enjoying their meal. Our waitress brought the kids some colour in pages and pencil crayons and they calmly sat and coloured in.
This meant that Mom and Dad could really enjoy our meal! And boy oh boy, did we!!
I opted for a classic Caesar salad as a starter while Kurt enjoyed the prawn tempura. For the main meal, I went with the fillet as I have been craving a good steak while Kurt opted for the pork belly.
The quality of every dish was amazing and of a particularly high standard.

Welcoming and Charming Vibes
The ambiance at Tryn is also so very welcoming and charming. Of course, the wine and bubbly is amazing and so is the food and service. The restaurant staff are extremely knowledgeable and made great recommendations throughout our visit.
After lunch we headed to the outside area to enjoy our desserts and bubbly while the kids played in the beautiful garden.

We are so incredibly fortunate to have this place in Cape Town! We can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend visiting Tryn at Steenberg Wine estate.
