I would usually be embarrassed to share something I would usually be embarrassed to share something like this but it was the straw that broke the camels back for me! It happened over a year ago and it’s when I realised my shopping habits were not normal 🛍️

It happened over a year ago and I’m kind of glad it did. Its the trigger that got me on my mindful spending journey 👏

Have you ever bought something and never used it? Tell me in the comments. I know I’m not the only one 🤪

I didn’t realise just how much trying to “keep I didn’t realise just how much trying to “keep up” online was affecting the way I spent money.

The random “little treats.” The impulse buys after scrolling. The feeling that everyone else had somehow figured out the perfect wardrobe, home, routine, skincare, fitness plan, holidays, productivity system… all at once.

And without even noticing, I started spending money trying to recreate a lifestyle I was constantly consuming online. Nothing dramatic changed overnight, but these are 5 things that slowly helped me step out of that cycle:

1. I stopped shopping for my fantasy self
I used to buy for the version of me I imagined I could become. Now I try to buy for the life I actually live every day.

2. I started questioning urgency.
Social media makes everything feel time-sensitive. Limited drops. Trends. “Must-haves.” I realised that if I still wanted something a few weeks later, then maybe I actually liked it.

3. I stopped treating spending like self-care
This one was hard. I realised I was using purchases as comfort, reward, entertainment and stress relief all at the same time.

4. I learned to appreciate repetition
Repeating outfits. Rewearing shoes. Cooking the same meals. The internet can make normal habits feel boring, when in reality they’re often what create stability.

5. I focused more on how I wanted my life to feel
Calm. Intentional. Financially peaceful.
Not constantly chasing the next thing.

Ironically, the less I tried to keep up online, the richer my real life started to feel 👏

Confidence starts in the little everyday moments🤍

From getting ready for netball practice to stepping onto the court, I love watching her grow into herself more and more each day.

I love that @dovesouthafrica Deodorant is gentle on young underarms while helping support the confidence that carries her through every practice, friendship, and new challenge.

I don’t magically have more hours in the day… I’ve just built tiny movement habits into my normal life 🤷🏻‍♀️

One of the biggest lessons from my mindful spendin One of the biggest lessons from my mindful spending journey has been this: spending less isn’t the only goal. Spending better is too!

These are purchases I genuinely use regularly, enjoy daily and would 1000% buy again, which honestly makes them more valuable than the pile of “cheap” impulse buys I forgot about two weeks later 😅 Bonus - I bought some of these with my Discovery miles 🙌
