Last month ended off on a high note for me as I got to enjoy a few days in the town of Swellendam, getting a first peak at Swellendam Winter School.
School is perhaps a very strong word. You’re probably thinking I was hitting the books, but it was nothing like that.
It was literally a leisurely learning holiday in Swellendam where I gained new skills, knowledge and made some new friends.
Swellendam Winter School is a new initiative whereby over 50 different 3-day and 5-day midweek courses are offered by Swellendam’s own local talented experts and apasionados in a variety of beautiful venues!
It’s that time of year again where you can feel that year-end rush approaching. People are scrambling and putting the pressure on to make the most of the last few months of the year. My body is certainly feeling it. It’s been a busy year thus far and I know my body is run down as I’ve been getting the flu so often. From work schedules to school runs and extra-murals, there’s hardly any time to just sit back and relax these days.
This is why I was so happy to hear from Experience Days South Africa – a new division of Experience Days UK and Experience Days USA. Experience Days, a global Experience Gift Company, offers 1000’s of unique activity gift certificates across the UK and the US, and now South Africa. From Food Tours to Racecar Driving, Flight Lessons to Wine Tasting, Skydiving to Pamper Days, the range of activities offered includes both the relaxing and the heart-pounding.
Yes, I know… the work year has barely started, but after just a week back to reality – my body was completely in shock and I was knocked with a terrible sinus infection. I’m about to embark on a bit of a career change imminently, so I’ve been a bit stressed and anxious about what’s to come in the future. I’ll share some more of that soon.
This is why an invitation to stay over at Val Du Charron Guest House & Wine Estate In Wellington was welcomed. We visited the Piza E Vino restaurant on the estate back in December last year and really fell in love with the beautiful views, so we couldn’t wait to go back and explore more of what it has to offer. The kids were also very excited to know they were going back to the restaurant with the coolest play areas.
Writing this post, 3 weeks post holiday, is quite hard. I am literally dying for another one!
Since Aidan was born, we were never brave enough to face the prospect of travelling with two little kids. That doesn’t even sound like a holiday, does it?
We were starting to get cabin fever though and decided to give it a shot and book a holiday, not too far out of Cape Town the week after Easter last month.
