Those weeks leading up to my both my babies birth’s were really exciting!

Knowing that our bundles of joy were about to grace us with their presence, we wanted to make sure that we were prepared!

Naturally, we were a lot more prepared with our first born Alyssa – mainly because she was our first child, so we really only had ourselves to worry about. Alyssa was also almost 2 weeks overdue, which gave us extra time to be prepared.

With Aidan on the other hand, he was born at 37 weeks and 3 days – so he was an early surprise. Alyssa also just turned 2 at the time, which meant we had a busy toddler on our hands while trying to juggle getting everything ready to bring her little brother home.

Nevertheless, and as most parents will come to realise, things don’t always go according to plan. You can, however, plan and prepare as far as possible and things will eventually fall into place. As a new parent, you will quickly learn to prioritise and quit sweating the small stuff!

For us, prioritizing meant focusing on the below, in order to welcome our babies home:

Alyssa’s My Little Pony Themed Party

So my Big Girl turned 4 last week and to celebrate, we hosted friends and family at the Black Bull Steakhouse for a My Little Pony themed party.

Let’s just say, Alyssa and I were equally responsible for the choice of theme – but I must admit, I’m crazy over these colorful creatures. Not only because of the infectious colours, but I love how ponies celebrate life – honouring friendship and kindness to others! Each Pony is unique and colourful in it’s own right.

Preparing for the party was absolute bliss – with the help of Pinterest of course. There are so many ideas for the theme, however, My little Pony decor and favours are not as easy to find, as opposed to some of the Disney-themed characters. After shopping around and doing some DIY though, I was able to pull it off.

Happy 4th Birthday Alyssa

Dear Alyssa

Here we are again – another year has passed and what an amazing year it has been watching you growing up.

Something happened this week, which makes me want to hug you even tighter than I do every day and cherish your every move. You will understand one day when you’re older.

Over the past year, your strong personality has certainly come to the fore. Your mood swings too – I think you may have inherited this from Daddy. However, your smile, laughter, and wit (which happens later in the day) compensates for that! Even when you are miserable in the mornings, you are actually quite funny and that makes me smile.

You have been a confident and independent child since day 1 and I love to see how these qualities continue to develop.

Our Weekend Escape To Val Du Charron Guest House & Wine Estate In Wellington

Yes, I know… the work year has barely started, but after just a week back to reality – my body was completely in shock and I was knocked with a terrible sinus infection. I’m about to embark on a bit of a career change imminently, so I’ve been a bit stressed and anxious about what’s to come in the future. I’ll share some more of that soon.

This is why an invitation to stay over at Val Du Charron Guest House & Wine Estate In Wellington was welcomed. We visited the Piza E Vino restaurant on the estate back in December last year and really fell in love with the beautiful views, so we couldn’t wait to go back and explore more of what it has to offer. The kids were also very excited to know they were going back to the restaurant with the coolest play areas.
