I Ran My First 10km Race

At the beginning of the year, I set a resolution to keep healthy and although I haven’t become an Olympian just yet, I have been keeping active and I do feel a lot fitter than last year this time!

So on Sunday, I ran my first 10 km race ever and it feels so amazing! I am literally still buzzing… The Cape Town 10km Peace Run was really awesome. I’m glad I did it and I really enjoyed it.

I run here and there but no serious runner at all, so in preparation of the big 10km, I started doing ParkRun‘s for the last 4 weeks or so. The parkruns are only 5km but it was my way of getting some sort of experience on the road, instead of just running on the treadmill. Since running the parkrun’s I literally can’t do the treadmill anymore. It’s too boring and I get tired quicker for some reason. With each parkrun, my time improves and it’s a really awesome feeling beating that previous personal best.

When I received the press release about Domestly, South Africa’s first on-demand cleaning app, it couldn’t have come at a better time. Our Domestic Worker was about to take a week’s leave and we were on our own, cleaning wise!

Domestly gave me a voucher to use on their app, whereby I could quickly browse profiles of available professional cleaners in my area and then immediately book and pay for their service.

Book Club – A Thousand Splendid Suns By Khaled Hosseini

This book has really left it’s mark on me. Never in my whole life could I have imagined such pain, fear and brutality as described in this tale.

I’ve heard many people say how this book changed them, including a few peeps who commented on my instagram post recently. I feel the same way.

Earlier this year I read another book by Hosseini, called The Kite Runner, and I was equally moved. This man really paints a vivid picture of life in Afghanistan – the suffering and brutality of it all.

Celebrating Baby’s First Year – Bailey

When Alyssa and Aidan received an invitation to Bailey’s First Birthday party, I was in total shock that a year had already gone by since this little man was born!

Bailey is the first born child of Kelly and Jakim. Jakim and Kurt have been good friends for over a decade, he was Kurt’s Bestman at our wedding & Kurt at his!

Both Kurt and I will never forget the day Jakim told us he had met his future wife, Kelly.
